Loving yourself

man-beach-love-sand-Kaboompics

“Wouldn’t it be powerful if you fell in love with yourself so deeply that you would do just about anything if you knew it would make you happy? This is precisely how much life loves you and wants you to nurture yourself. The deeper you love yourself, the more the universe will affirm your worth. Then you can enjoy a lifelong love affair that brings you the richest fulfillment from inside out.”

As people feel a resonance with the thought of loving themselves, I am often asked how can we love ourselves? What does it mean to love ourselves? My answer is to initially appreciate topics which are easy for you to feel good about. As you do so throughout the day, everyday, you will reach a place where you are feeling better and stronger predominantly and consistently. From this place of strength, if you feel ready, you can choose to put your loving gaze on yourself too. Chances are high that now because of the new and improved vibrational place that you are in, you will be able to love and appreciate yourself easily.

I must add that loving ourselves is not arrogance or vanity (that is always from a place of fear as Louise Hay says). Loving ourselves means genuinely appreciating the magnificent creation of life that we are.

A question can arise in some – Why would you choose to love yourself? Because when you love yourself, you will feel good and you love feeling good. That is what your essence is. You are pure positive energy. Don’t you love it when you are in love? Don’t you find feeling good awesome? Everything you want – a more nurturing relationship, better health, bigger car, a promotion at work, starting a new venture, more money etc. is all because you believe that you will feel good in the having of it. It is that feeling that you are targeting. When you love yourself, you find it easy to make choices which make you feel even more good, predominantly and consistently. From this place of strength, you are of so much value to yourself and to anyone else you would want to be of value to.

When you feel love for yourself, you allow the law of attraction to match you with people who also feel love and appreciation for you. The law of attraction states “like attracts like”. What you are feeling attracts more to feel the same. It is a very powerful law just like the law of gravity. We use our knowledge and understanding of the law of gravity to make our lives easy. We can do the same with the law of attraction too.

Another beautiful thing happens when you start feeling good predominantly and consistently. What you are feeling determines the action which is inspired from within you. When you are feeling despair (with regard to any one topic in your life which is important to you or with regard to many topics), there is a particular kind of action which you feel like offering. When you are feeling anger, there is another kind of action that you feel like offering. When you are feeling hope, there is yet another kind of action that you feel like offering and when you are feeling love and appreciation, there is another kind of action that you feel inspired to offer. The action you offer is important but more important is the vibrational place from where it is inspired.

When you are predominantly and consistently feeling either love and appreciation or in the vicinity of it, can you imagine the power of that? The words that you feel liking saying, the thoughts and impulses which come to you, the way you focus on various topics, the action that you feel inspired to offer – all of it is, predominantly and consistently, from a place of strength, a place of true freedom, a place of feeling good, a place of love.

My suggestion would be don’t love yourself for anyone else, don’t do it because you will be of more value to whoever you want to be of value to (which you will be…from that place of love, appreciation, feeling worthy, joy, freedom, feeling empowered, you bring the “whole of you” to any topic/ person you want to be of value to), do it because it feels good to you, do it because you are pure positive energy, do it because you love to feel love, do it for that beautiful feeling of love, do it for yourself.

It’s not your job

people - Sean Stratton

“It is not your responsibility to raise the vibration of another. It will backfire on you 100% of the time. They will become needy blood-sucking vultures.”

– Abraham

If you want to uplift others, the only way you have of doing it in a way which will be easy for you is by being at a higher vibration yourself. When you are happy yourself, that is the only way you are of value to yourself and to anyone else you would want to be of value to. So you see someone feeling bad and you feel that by empathizing with them (by feeling their pain), you will make them feel better. As you do so, you find that you bring your vibrations down to theirs. Now you have two people feeling bad and there is nothing of value to anyone in this.

If you want to help others, it’s important that your focus is on the solution and not the problem. The frequency of the solution is very different from the frequency of the problem. Yes, that focus requires practice. If you really want to be of value to anyone (including yourself), then that practice is worth it.

And, in all this it’s helpful to remember that uplifting others is not your responsibility. The word “responsibility” feels like a burden. If you use “joy” and “fun” as your reason for doing something rather than “responsibility”, it will always feel better and be of value to you and to anyone else you would want it to be of value to.

If you really want to do something (or have to do something) and you can’t feel joy, then the suggestion is to start “focusing” on what you want to (or feel that you need to) do in a way that makes you feel a little better about it. Everyday, as you do so, you will find that the way you feel about that particular topic does not any longer give you as much pain as it did earlier. Even within just seven days of focusing on that topic in a way which makes you feel relief, you would have brought about a substantial difference in your vibrations on that topic. You would have changed the way you feel about it by focusing on anything (even if its just one thing that you find) which you can appreciate about it. If you can’t find anything to appreciate in it, then the suggestion is don’t do it. Not till the time you have changed the way you feel about it.

Yes, action is important but more important is action from which vibrational place. When you feel despair, you feel like doing a particular kind of action. When you feel anger, there is another kind of action which you feel like doing. When you feel hope there is yet another kind of action which is inspired from within you and when you feel love, there is another kind of action which you feel like doing. So, the vibrational place needs to be aligned first and then the action inspired from that new vibrational place can be taken up.

The law of attraction states “like attracts like” which means that what you are feeling attracts more to feel the same. So, it’s important that if you want positive experiences as far as a particular topic in your life is concerned, you feel positive about it as of now.

There is more to it than just plain action

“As you observe the enormous differences in the effort that people apply and the results they achieve, you have to conclude that there is more to the equation of achieving than action alone.”

Do only what you feel good about

“Follow your bliss and do what you love. We tend to do what we think we should do, rather than what our heart tells us to do.

Do what makes your heart sing!”

And if there is something that you feel you have to do (even though you do not want to do it), you may choose to feel differently about it before doing it. You can refocus or redirect your thoughts on that topic so that you feel better about it before offering any action. Incase you cannot feel better about it, the suggestion is do not do it… at least not until you can feel better about it.

Action is important but more important is the vibrational place from where it is offered. When you are feeling powerless, you feel like doing a particular action. When you are feeling angry, there is another kind of action which you feel like carrying out. When you are feeling hope, there is yet another kind of action which you feel inspired to and when you are feeling love and appreciation, there is another kind of action which you feel like doing. So, the action has value but what is more important is the vibrational place from where it is offered.

Sometimes, the reality we are living is so uncomfortable that we cannot feel good about it as of now. In that situation, one can choose to carry out an action which makes it easier to distract oneself from the reality and to feel good. At some point, when one is ready, one can look at the reality and choose to focus upon it in way which makes one feel better about it. Choosing the vibrational path of least resistance is always better than the action path of least resistance but I do see situations in which choosing the action path of least resistance seems to be better in the present moment.

The law of attraction states “like attracts like” i.e. what you are thinking and thereby feeling on a topic attracts more to feel the same. If you would like experiences which make you feel good to come more often your way, you would want to feel good in the now. You always have a choice.
